National Honorary Advisory Board

Andrea Cohen is the author of The Cartographer's Vacation. She is the director of The Blacksmith Poetry Reading Series in Cambridge, Mass. and communications director for the MIT Sea Grant College Program.

Cheryll Glotfelty is the co-founder, past president, and current executive secretary of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment (ASLE).  She is co-editor with Harold Fromm of The Ecocriticism Reader: Landmarks in Literary Ecology and  has published on Rachel Carson and on topics related to women and nature. 

Robert Finch is the author of Death of a Hornet and Other Cape Cod Essays, Common Ground: A Naturalist's Cape Cod, Outlands, and The Cape Itself, and he is the editor of A Place Apart: A Cape Cod Reader and co-editor of The Norton Book of Nature Writing.

Keiko Kamito
is the chairperson of the Board of Directors  of The Japan Rachel Carson Council and is the assistant translator of
Rachel Carson: Witness for Nature by Linda Lear.  In addition, she translated and appeared in a Japanese documentary film based on Carson's book, A Sense of Wonder.

Ted Levin is a naturalist, writer, and photographer whose work appears in such publications as Audubon, Sierra, Sports Illustrated, and National Geographic Traveler. His books include Liquid Land, and Backtracking: The Way of a Naturalist .

Bill McKibben is the author of The End of Nature, The Age of Missing Information, Hope, Human and Wild, Maybe One: A Case for Smaller Families, and Wandering Home.  He is a frequent contributor to a wide variety of publications, including Orion Magazine, The New York Review of Books, Outside, and The New York Times.

Carl Safina is the author of more than a hundred publications, including Song for the Blue Ocean and Eye of the Albatross; Visions of Hope and Survival.  He is a recipient of the Pew Scholar's Award in Conservation and the Environment, a World Wildlife Fund Senior Fellowship, the Lannan Literary Award for nonfiction, the 2002 John Burroughs Writer's Medal.  He is the president of Blue Ocean Institute.
